At an early age Demetrick attended Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Wilmar. He later joined Greater Shady Grove AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Alonzo Redic. He attended Wilmar Elementary where he played baseball for Drew County Little League- the Indians. His love for baseball continued where he played for Babe Ruth Little League in Monticello, Arkansas. He graduated from Drew Central High School in 1996.
Upon graduating high school, he started working for Scooters Barbecue. Later he moved to Kansas City for work. He returned home where he worked various jobs such as Riley's Pavement, the City of Monticello, the City of Wilmar, Sonic, Chapel Woods, and the latest being McDonald's. In his spare time, he enjoyed barbecuing and frying fish for the community. He was most proud to volunteer for the June Dinner committee. His love for barbecuing, frying fish, dancing and the blues brought everyone together on the Hill for a really good time. He later married Alicia Jones in 2012, to this union one child was born, Jacari Oglesby. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olin and Ethel Lyles, one brother Thedrick Oglesby, his nephews; Jarrod Oglesby and Nehemiah Oglesby, stepfather; Charles Dailey, special friends; Eric Simmons and Jason Christian.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son, JaCari Dion Oglesby of Wilmar, Arkansas; one grandchild, JaLani Elise Oglesby of Wilmar, Arkansas; his ex-wife, Alicia Dionne Jones of Wilmar, Arkansas; his mother, Pattie Dailey of Wilmar, Arkansas; his brothers, Keith Lyles of San Antonio, Texas and Dominique Simmons (Jennifer) of Little Rock, Arkansas; his sisters Leslie Lyles, Tracy Oglesby, and Jaton Oglesby of Wilmar, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Forestine Grant; as well as 15 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews; a special friend, Sharon Davis; daughter TyiAnna Davis of Warren; and many long term friends Corey Sanders, Demetrick Spencer, Demetrick Ingram, Calvin Burns, TaKendra McNeary, Chekiona Durden-Jones, Kayley Smith and Laurhea August; along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Greater Shady Grove AME Church with Rev. Marvin Mosby officiating. Burial will be in Wilmar Cemetery. You can sign his guestbook registry here on his page.
