He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, a Professional Musician and of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Clampit.
Survivors include his daughter, Candy Hamilton of Texarkana, TX; his brother, Jed Clampit of Fayetteville; a grandson, Craig Hamilton of Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

Hahn's Peak, CO Sunday, December 9, 2012 Years ago I had the privilege of sitting in with the band on pedal steel for a few nights in the Steamboat Springs,CO area. I always ended up next to Bill on stage and he had a way of making me feel comfortable and appreciated. We had a great time! Later while out trucking 48 states I found myself standing next to him in line at a truck stop Wendys in Arkansas. We were both pretty shocked. We talked for a while & he told me about a house he was building. He's one of my favorite musicians and I'm sure he will be very much missed by his family and all who knew him.CA Jordan
