She was employed at Andy's Restaurant in Crossett and was Assembly of God faith. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Johnson and Billie Coleman Johnson and was preceded in death by one son, Charles David Burton, four brothers, Johnny Taylor, Billy Joe Johnson, Don Johnson and Carl Johnson and two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson and Norma Johnson. LaVerne was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Carter of Longview; one son, Robert David Carter of McGehee; one daughter, Janet Lynn Nolan of Monroe, LA; one brother, James Johnson of Crossett; two sisters, Mary Stephens of El Dorado and her twin, LaFran Singleton of Bastrop, LA; five grandchildren, Rayelynn Carpenter, Nicholas Burton, Madison Nolan, Ayden Carter and McKenzie Carter.

My heart breaks at your loss, BUT So Happy to know we will get to stand in line when we get our wings, as Verne did this early morning of Dec 15,2012.. To know she is so HAPPY NOW, Strolling over Heaven with her Mom and Dad, and OH MY GOODNESS with Lizzie, OH WOW.
