M. L. was a dedicated employee to Junior Cruce and Charlie Smith in the timber industry for 35 years. He met and was joined in Holy Matrimony to Enda Smith on June 9, 1965 and was married for 48 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Larry, Russell, Jr., Michael and John Echols. He was a loving and faithful husband, an outstanding father, stepfather and grandfather. He departed his life journey on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR.
To celebrate his home going and cherish his memories, he leaves his wife, Enda Echols of Monticello; one step-son, Castor Dale Thompson of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Norma (Darwin) Mason of Nashville, TN and Joyce A. Washington of Monticello; one son, Gary Bedford of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Levi (Joyce) Echols and Terry (Ruth) Echols, both of Memphis, TN and Cifers (Carol) Echols of Chicago, IL; six sisters, Bernice Harris of Coldwater, MS, Sandra (Dale) Ashford of Senatobia, MS, Corither (Jesse) Payne and Louise (Madison) Burkley, both of Memphis, TN, Doris (Morris) Echols of Chicago, IL and Bessie Wright of Dayton, OH; one sister-in-law, Tijuana Echols of Rossville, TN. He leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
