He was a WWII Navy veteran, having fought at Pearl Harbor on the USS California and was a mason with membership in Houston Lodge. He was a retired carpenter and a hairdresser and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, the mother of his children, Nell Curry Wilkerson; one son, Ronny Wilkerson and a daughter-in-law Deborah Wilkerson.
Survivors include; his wife, Edith Wilkerson of Monticello; four sons, Bobby Wilkerson of Monticello, Jeffery Wilkerson of Little Rock, Sammy Wilkerson of Monticello and Charles Wilkerson of Albertville, AL; one daughter, Jacqulyn Perfetto of Bath, Maine, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
