He was preceded in death by his father, Ray C. Burgess and his grandparents, Herbert & Frances Fisher and Lynn & Alberta Burgess.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Burgess of Stockholm, Sweden, Brian Burgess of Illinois, Bradley Burgess of Afghanistan and Colby Broyles of Monticello; one daughter Angela Burgess of Boston, MA; his mother, Mary Fisher Burgess of Monticello; three sisters, Gayle Spurlock and husband Ricky of Monticello, Deborah Tullos of Pace, FL and Kristie Fowler and husband Patrick of Monticello; and the mother of his children, Bea Cogswell of Illinois.
Arrangements are by Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home.
