  1. Melanie Wallace
    To JoAnn's family:
I worked with JoAnn at Arkansas Children's Hospital several years ago, and I just thought the world of her. She was kind, friendly, sweet, smart, and interested in those around her. I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss to those who knew and worked with her still. Such a wonderful woman. She spoke often of her daughter Melanie and son Andy and was such a proud mama. Know that we mourn with you and miss her as well
  2. Barbara Bentsen
Melanie, Sam told me about your Mom and Grandma. I am so sorry - I know you're going to have some difficult times and I'll be remembering you. I remember JoAnn and all her jokes - so often I didn't know if she was kidding or not -- I'm referring to funny stuff at Drew Memorial!
  3. Judy Hubbell
I am heart-broken by the death of my dear sister, Jo Ann. It was so painful to watch her rapid decline, but we had several deep, soul-searching conversations during her illness. She was right with the Lord, and was ready to go. I have no doubt I will see her again. I am thankful she is no longer suffering.
  4. Barbara Wilborn
JoAnn was an extraordinary person! She loved her children, grandchildren dearly and was always such a joy to be around! I will truly miss but will have fond memories of her many fun-loving ways she brought joy to the ACH Clinical Laboratory. I am praying that you will find comfort in her beautiful memory.

  11. Denise Clark
I am so sorry for the loss to the family and friends of Joann. She was such a one-of-a-kind sweet person.

I have worked with Joann all the years that she has worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was a unique, dear person with a very distinctive voice. I still hear her voice in the lab background noise even though she hasn't worked here since the beginning of the year. I know that will continue. She became friends with my Mom by talking to her on the phone when we would work together. They would hold long conversations. After about 15-20 minutes, Joann would say, Denise, your Mom wants to talk with you. I had no clue that was who she was speaking with. My Mom passed away 11 years ago, on June 30th, also. I know that they got to meet in Heaven.

Melanie and Andy, I am so, so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was such a special lady. Melanie, I will always remember when you, Andy, your mom, Susan and I drove to Cut Off Creek WMA to do your owl study. We laughed so hard when we heard owls call and your mom would ask, "What was that?" You would calmly answer, "It was an owl, Mom." Know that you and your family is and will be in my prayers. Love to you all.
