He was a 1969 graduate of McGehee High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1973 with a degree in Political Science. He was an avid Razorback fan and had classes with a few players while attending the university. Chuck Dicus and Bruce James even sat at his table in the cafeteria. Skippy said they always had pretty girls with them.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother Gregory Steven Smith and his nephew, Matthew Chesser. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Smith of Monticello; his sister, Paula Chesser and husband Buddy of Monticello; and his nephew, Drew Chesser of Sherwood.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Dermott Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
