He was a retired inspector for Kelsay Hayes and member of Second Baptist Church and enjoyed going. He loved working in his garden, fishing and visiting with friends over breakfast and coffee at Hardee's and McDonalds. He also enjoyed spending summers in his other home (Rockford, IL) on the deck and lake with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and loved.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Griffin Byrd; one great-grandson, Matthew Block; and nineteen siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Margene Maloney and husband Terry of Monticello, Priscilla Lapp and husband Dan of Rockford, IL and Stella Byrd of Warren; six grandchildren, Mary Hanna of Keller, TX, Caterine Hall and Shawn Maloney both of Monticello, Ted Lapp, Kathleen Lewellen and Steve Lapp all of Rockford, IL; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 at Second Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
