He attended Drew Central High School and was a part of the CCC during the Great Depression. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served aboard the USS Enterprise during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he relocated to Sacramento, CA where he worked as an aircraft instrument repair technician at McClellan Air Force Base. He was also the owner of Sealey News Agency and an instructor of Electronics at American River College in Sacramento, CA. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Whitmore Sealey. He, along with his wife Irene, were active members of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Pauline Baptist Church
Survivors include his wife, Irene Herring Sealey of Monticello; one son, Richard Sealey and wife Becky of Sacramento, CA; one grandson, Bret Sealey and wife Sarah of San Diego, CA; one great-granddaughter, Anna Sealey of Sacramento, CA; one step-son, Phillip Herring of Maumelle; two step-daughters, Janice Herring Lane and husband Bill of Baton Rouge, LA and Gail Herring Hawkins and husband Fritz of Cabot. Additional survivors include five step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and his care giver, Jo Ann Keel.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Sacramento, CA. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
