Shirley Claudell McClain Haskew, age 90 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Grand Manor Assisted Living in Monticello. She was born November 29, 1925 in Drew County, AR to the late Charlie L. McClain and Tommie Gardner McClain.

She was a retired 6th grade teacher with Monticello Schools and a member of the Lacey United Methodist Church. Mrs. Shirley has been a pink lady with the Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years and has voluntarily knitted over 2000 caps for newborn babies. Her first job out of high school was with Crossett Companies where she was the secretary to Vice-President, William Norman. She also loved playing bridge and bingo with her friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Haskew Armour of Georgetown, TX; one sister, Audrey Stephenson of Crossett; four grandchildren, one great grandchild. In addition to her husband, Ralph C. Haskew, Sr., and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ralph C. Haskew, II; two brothers, Charles and James McClain; and a sister, Joan Burch.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday preceding the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Lacey Methodist Church, c/o Sherry Wallis, 2540 Prairie Rd.     I went by and saw your mom not long ago. She is tickled to see me. She has always held a soft spot in my heart, Praying that God will comfort you in the days to come. Loosing moms are loosing your best friend, but we will see them again. Hold on tight to the good memories.
