She was the widow of Robert Downey Bowden, Sr., a homemaker and a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Norwood and Roger McDougald.
Gloria Jean was a kind, loving, and caring woman. She loved her husband, Downey and was a devoted wife. She loved Robert, Chas and her two grandsons. She loved to talk about them and all their achievements, but most of all she was proud her grandsons were Godly young men. She loved her God and would tell others about her Savior. She loved her Prairie Grove Baptist Church and always invited others to attend. At church she enjoyed leading music and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.
She loved her many friends and family and enjoyed quilting, laughing and talking for hours. Gloria Jean was an amazing God fearing woman that touched the lives of anyone she met and she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one son, Robert Downey Bowden, Jr. and wife Chasity of the Long Prairie community; two grandsons, Dylan Bowden of Conway and Wyatt Bowden of the Long Prairie community; one brother, Ronnie McDougald of the Shiloh community; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
