He confessed a hope in Christ at an very early age and joined Mount Zion AME Church in Monticello. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1985. After high school, Rodney entered the United States Air Force in 1985 where he served for eight years. Rodney then began a career as a correctional officer, where he became a Sergeant. He retired in 2019 after twenty years of service.
Rodney was an avid motorcyclist. He was the life of the party and his smile lit up every room he entered.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife of twenty years, Wanda; mother and father, Rev. Jessie B. Washington and First Lady Lois Washington; three brothers; Jessie Washington, Jr., Gregory Washington and Sean Washington. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Private funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial to follow in Mt. Zion AME Cemetery. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
