Walter Lloyd Burt, 84, of Wilmar, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home. He was born January 25, 1928 in Wilmar.

He was retired owner/operator of Burt Logging, was a member of Wilmar Baptist Church and attended Wilmar United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Willie "Bill" Burt and Sophia "Sophie" Prinzing Burt and was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Reaves Burt, one son, Jacky Lloyd Burt, two brothers, Kay August "Doodle" Burt and Harrison Burt.

Survivors include his wife, Modeen Herring Burt of Wilmar; grandson, Jason Lloyd Burt of Pensacola, FL, granddaughter, Jennifer Burt Shaddock of Fordyce, great-granddaughter, Caitlin Millwood of Fordyce; daughter in law, Janice Burt Smith of Malvern; two step sons, Tony Herring of Monticello and Creed Herring of Lacey, AR; two step daughters, Kedran Handly of Monticello and Chris Barnett of Green Hill; one brother, Franklin Burt of Warren; three sisters, Amanda Johns of Little Rock, Loretta Pace of Vicksburg, MS and Janice Tate of Warren; grandchildren, David Handly, Dana Handly, Laci Bratton, Dr. Jason Herring, Ashley Cruce, Allison Wear and Ashley King; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
